The Papal Palace of Castel Gandolfo to participate in International Museum Day

A journey among art and history

18 May 2025

On Sunday 18 May, the Vatican Directorate of Museums and Cultural Heritage will participate in International Museum Day, promoting, at the Castel Gandolfo Museum Complex, the extraordinary opening of some rooms in the Papal Palace usually closed to the public.

For a full day (09.00 a.m. – 06.30 p.m.; last entry at 05.00 p.m.) and in addition to the usual museum itinerary, three rooms of the private apartment will be accessible and open for visits: the Billiard Room, the TV Room and the Music Room, revealing an unusual legacy of furniture and furnishings, historical silent witnesses to the discreet daily life of the pontiffs.
A special gift, included in the entrance ticket, for a truly unique visit.

Established in 1977, International Museum Day is promoted at global level by the International Council of Museums (ICOM), to enhance the institutional, social and cultural role of museums in the service of society and its development.
